This week, some thoughts on presence. Because I am uncharacteristically having trouble being as present as I would like.
I know that being truly present is the gift of life. It allows you to experience your world on a level that is profound. It’s the origin of creativity and inspiration. Presence makes for a conscious and meaningful life.
So this week, some thought on presence and consciousness from my guests.
“Consciousness is beamed in from a higher place. It’s not local.” -Jason Medlock
Jason Medlock is deeply immersed in the world of consciousness. He explores metaphysics, vision boarding, and the power of setting intentions. Through exploration and practice, he has discovered the profound impact of meditation and mindfulness on expanding consciousness and accessing spiritual gifts.
What is consciousness to you? Where does it start? This week, consider making conscious decisions that are heart-felt rather than habitual.
“Meditation, at its core, goes against the very nature of society.” -Thom Walters
Meditation, says Thom, is a gateway to inner peace. But the world at large distracts us. Society says dance to my tune! Seldom does it allow time for the inward reflection to determine if society’s tune matches our own.
Can you find a few moments to be still this week? What comes to you in the quiet? Does what you connect with in the stillness carry into your so called real life?
“Simple tasks become joyful.” -Thane Lawrie
Thane Lawrie is known as The Buddhist CEO, which is also the name of his book. His quote reminds me of the old Buddhist saying: “Before enlightenment, chop wood, carry water. After enlightenment, chop wood, carry water”
And he reminds me that presence can be found in the simplest of daily tasks, carried out with intent.
This week, do your tasks with quiet intent. Do you feel the joy?

Good words of wisdom from your guests Pat. I find that 22 years after my worst "Bump In The Road," and a few more since, which I spoke about on your show last year, I am grateful just to be alive, have enough to eat and have the basics for a comfortable life.
On a practical level, here's how I manage to stay present most of the time:
I walk 5km (3.2 miles) on a quiet country road 5 mornings a week - before dawn most of the year. It is my time for prayer and contemplation.
I heat my old farmhouse with wood, so I spend most Saturdays from Spring to Fall pulling trees out of the bush with my tractor, cutting, splitting and stacking wood.
Living in a 120-year-old farmhouse with a barn and 2 acres of garden keeps me busy with chores when I am not cutting wood.
My mobile phone is just that, I don't use it for emails, social media or accessing the internet. Those activities are reserved for office hours and on a computer.
I also find that life becomes less frantic in our later years.
