This week, some thoughts on Starting Over. Not the movie with Candice Bergen, but real life.
Most motivational stories are about going from rags to riches. It’s a tale embedded in our culture, and one full of grit, perseverance and possibility.
But what happens when someone loses it all, through no fault of their own?
Molly’s story is one of from riches to rags and back. Her former Harvard educated husband entered into a business deal that caused them to lose everything. And to top it off, Molly found herself over $15 million dollars in debt, with a $1 million IRS lien against her personally. Molly, her five children, and an aging mother were very suddenly on their own with no source of support.
How does one turn such circumstances around? By giving to others. And when Molly started giving, she also started receiving. Molly’s story is karma in action.
What’s your karma from this last week? Month? Year? What do you want it to be?
“Break The Rules.” -Donna Bond
At the age of 44, Donna Bond left a high paying, globe trotting corporate job to….well, she wasn’t quite sure what she would do. All she knew for sure was that life had become stale and she needed a change.
Donna Bond earned a masters and PhD in spiritual psychology. With a series of serendipitous encounters, she and her husband sold their house and headed for Costa Rica. Starting over, Donna developed a series of retreats and workshops focusing on using spiritual psychology to navigate life.
If you could start over, what would you do? What would it take to follow your heart?
“The story you tell yourself is the story you live. It’s uncanny how true this is.” -Tama Kieves
Tama Kieves graduated with honors from Harvard Law and landed a prestigious job. But it didn’t make her happy and ultimately she walked away from it all, with no clear idea of what might lie ahead.
So she began a new life, a life of reacquainting herself with who she really was. It was a non linear path towards her real dream, which was to write. She’s now published numerous books and runs seminars on personal growth and change. Tama notes: “We are more than what’s in front of us. We are what’s inside us.””
What’s inside of you that you long to express? Is it the story you’re living? If you could start over…
This week, take the time to create a moment that embodies your most conscious, heart felt life. Could you do that again? And again and again?
Have an awesome week!
