Effie’s child Ford was born disabled, with an extremely a rare disease CTNB1. CTNB1 is a cell health growth neurological disorder. As a result, Ford has a number of disabilities. He needs a wheelchair; has no verbal skill; and suffers from a combination of low trunk tone and dystonia in this arms and legs.
While day to day life is extremely demanding, Effie has created a podcast for the disability community, fundraises, runs events and inspires just about everyone she meets. It wasn’t -and isn’t-an easy road. But we could all learn so much from her about expectations, disappointments and overcoming whatever life has in store.
