“The hero’s journey always begins with the call. One way or another, a guide will come to say, “look, you’re in sleepy land. Wake Come on a trip. There is a whole aspect of your consciousness, your being, that needs more.’ And so it starts.”
-Joseph Campbell
I’ve been podcasting three and a half years now. As host, I have a 30 thousand foot view. I see the universal human themes in the various stories, and the character strengths that people display to navigate their bump in the road.
I have come to see that we are all heroes.
My next book is focusing on Strong Women. All the women on my podcast display strength in one form or another. Following one’s intuition, physical courage, determination, compassion. And much more.
While each of our journeys are uniquely our own, stories offer a universal roadmap of wisdom for all of us. I hope to highlight those common elements, chapter by chapter.
I thought I’d start to develop some of my thoughts about Strong Women in this Substack through a series of essays. These essays aren’t chapters; just a canvas upon which to organize my thoughts. There’s no set publication schedule or length for these writings.
So dear reader, indulge me! Send me your thoughts as I release these essays! It would help me enormously.
Do these ruminations resonate with you? What do you find useful? What’s not? Are they too vague or rambling? Keep in mind these aren’t yet chapters: just some thoughts to be organized.
I want this upcoming book to be a guide for all of us, but especially for younger women. I want them to know they are not alone and that their dilemmas are not unique.
Every generation thinks they are different and no one can understand their voyage; but the truth is history tends to repeat because the human element doesn’t change. In that constancy is timeless wisdom if you can find it.
So as I release these essays, let me know. Do you find truth as I explore these topics and stories? Can you relate them to your own life? Can you laugh at yourself and all the lessons learned? Would you share them?
Thank you for your indulgence! I look forward to your comments. And please share these essays with your friends. I’d like as much input from as wide a group of people as possible.
In advance, all my thanks! And Happy New Year! To 2025 being a good year for all of us!
