A Story For the 4th of July

And it's not what you think

First, Happy 4th! May your barbecue be a happy one!

Today, Peter Wright’s story is on my mind. His experience living through civil wars in Africa is the antithesis of how we celebrate the 4th. No barbecues, fun fireworks or family get togethers. His lived story is about racial strife, violence, and the very human side of political turmoil.

I share this not to be a Debbie Downer, but to remind all of us how lucky we are. And how fragile things can sometimes be.

But today is a day of lighthearted celebration, so you may want to set this aside until later this weekend. But do take the time to listen to an absolutely remarkable story. It will leave you thinking about all that we have and how we might hold onto it.
