From Bill Williams: Know Your Value
What’s YOUR Value?
A father said to his daughter, “Now that you’ve graduated with honors, here’s a car that I bought many years ago. It’s pretty old now, but before I give it to you, I want you to take it to the used car lot downtown. Tell them I want to sell it and see how much they’ll offer you for it.”
The daughter went to the used car lot and soon returned to her father and said, “They offered me $1,000 because they said it looks pretty worn out.”
The father said, “Now take it to the pawn shop.”
The girl went to the pawn shop and soon returned to her father and reported, ”The pawn shop only offered $100 because it’s so old.”
Then her father asked her to go to a car show that a car club in a neighboring town was sponsoring that weekend and show them the car.
That weekend the girl did as he asked. She returned from the car show and told her father, ”Wow! Some people in the club offered me $100,000 for it because ‘it's an iconic car and sought by lots of collectors.’”
Then her dad explained, “The right place knows your value. If you aren’t valued as you should be, don’t be angry! It just means that you’re in the wrong place. Those who appreciate you, know your value! As you go through life, never stay in a place where no one sees your true value.”
